So apparently some people have as part of their relationship rules (I'm not huge on rules, personally, but I'm not that kind of person so it's not surprising) "No Dying".

This is a stupid rule.

Rules are supposed to be something that you can actually do something about by making a conscious choice to enact or avoid the pre- or proscribed behaviour. In most cases, people can't do a damned thing about dying. "No Dying" rules are pretty much exactly the kind of rule that most people, when they break it, didn't mean to and can't help it. Stupid.

It doesn't make you feel better to have a "No Dying" rule, because everyone knows that in most cases you can't help it, and after someone has died, the sense of betrayal is more profound. If you have "No Dying" rules, please reconsider them.

A "No stupid risky behaviours without safety precautions" guideline might serve you better than a "No Dying" rule.

Just a thought.
